Vyvanse is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and binge eating disorder (BED). It works by changing the levels of certain chemicals in the brain. This medicine may also be used to treat certain conditions related to depression. Vyvanse is available only with a doctor’s prescription.
Do not take VYVANSE if you are allergic to lisdexamfetamine or any of the other ingredients in this medicine. Also, do not take this medicine within 14 days of taking a MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine. If you do, a dangerous drug interaction could occur. VYVANSE may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If these effects happen, do not drive or use heavy machinery. Tell your doctor if you or your child drink alcohol while taking this medicine. It can make these side effects worse. Talk to your doctor if you have any problems while taking this medicine, especially heart or blood circulation problems such as Raynaud’s phenomenon, or signs of new psychosis (seeing or hearing things that are not real).
VYVANSE can affect growth in children. Your child’s height and weight should be checked often during treatment with this medicine. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate.
Do not breastfeed while you are using this medicine. It passes into your milk and can harm a baby. Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant while using this medicine.
Keep VYVANSE in a cool dry place away from moisture, heat, and light. Store the medicine in its original container and keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze this medicine or store it at a temperature above 25°C.
Missing a dose of this medicine may lead to insomnia, so it is important to use this medication as directed. Take your dose in the morning before you begin your day. Do not take more of this medicine in the afternoon or evening to make up for the missed dose.
If you or your child accidentally miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to make up for a missed one.
Some medicines can interact with lisdexamfetamine and increase your risk of side effects such as high fever, sweating, shivering, muscle stiffness or twitching, involuntary movements, changes in vision, seizure, and hallucinations. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you and your family take, including vitamins and herbs. Also tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to start nursing. It may pass into breast milk and can harm a baby. Talk to your doctor if you have questions. vyvanse 30 mg capsule
